Thunguri Coffee Factory Super Natural
Josh’s Notes:
Amazing ripe fruit smell on wet; like prunes or various stone fruits. You also get nice whiffs of berry jams in the cup. There’s also a really nice and bright orange juice acidity, and most notably, the taste of chocolate cake or brownies! This is an exceptional Kenya that exhibits all the brightness they’re known for.
Glitch’s Notes:
“A new lot has arrived from Thunguri, located in the Nyeri region of Kenya, carefully crafted through a special natural process.
Established in 1967, Thunguri Coffee Factory sits on the fertile, deep red volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya.
Local producers have dedicated themselves to improving quality by studying the techniques of natural coffee processing and flavor evaluation through years of experimentation. The result of their continuous effort is this exceptional lot, known as “Super Natural.”
“Super Natural” is a natural process in which fermentation and drying temperatures, as well as exposure to sunlight, are meticulously controlled to achieve an ideal cup profile. Only fully ripe cherries are hand-picked, undergo 72 hours of anaerobic fermentation, and are then sun-dried for approximately 28 days.
Through this detailed process, the coffee retains the bright character typical of Kenya while offering a juicy, fruity flavor reminiscent of fruit candy and blackberry.
Enjoy this vibrant and refined expression of Kenya’s coffee craftsmanship.”
Roasted light and spectacularly by our friends at Glitch Coffee and Roasters in Tokyo, Japan, rested for 7 days, then vacuum packed and frozen. I recommend enjoying this coffee right away.
