Monteblanco Green Tea Washed Purple Caturra
Josh’s Notes:
I finally bit the bullet and tried this coffee. A lot of visitors to the Glitch cafes have tried this and rave about it, but was I was never a believer till now. I don’t typically stock too many co-ferments but this one from Monteblanco was on another level. (in reality, it seems I like most Monteblanco co-ferments actually…) Still no idea why it’s called a green tea wash, but it certainly ends up reminding me of Arizona Green Tea regardless! So clean, bright, and flavorful, the liquid in the cup tends to disappear at an alarming rate because it’s so drinkable. A standout in the Glitch portfolio and a great add to any order.
Glitch’s Notes:
“We are excited to introduce a unique coffee from Monteblanco farm, a variety we've often featured at GLITCH COFFEE.
Located in the Huila region of Colombia, the farm is currently managed by Rodrigo Sanchez, the third-generation producer at Monteblanco. Known for his innovative approach to fermentation, Rodrigo's coffees are distinguished by their unique flavor profiles.
This particular batch is fermented with pineapple, passion fruit, orange, mango, and panela—a traditional Colombian unrefined sugar—along with yeast. This process extracts the enzymes from the fruits, which are then used to ferment the coffee beans.
By leveraging the high sugar content and optimal conditions for microbial activity in the Purple Caturra variety, combined with years of research and experimentation in processing methods, this coffee offers a spice-like subtle aroma with juicy flavors reminiscent of pineapple and peach.”
Roasted light and spectacularly by our friends at Glitch Coffee and Roasters in Tokyo, Japan, rested for 7 days, then vacuum packed and frozen. I recommend enjoying this coffee right away.
