Josh’s notes:
Interesting combination of sun dried tomatoes and green tea aroma on bag open! On grind, the tomato fades and is replaced by grapefruit. On wet, the aroma darkens to a ripe red cherry space. Really interesting flavor spectrum! In the brew, the cup is dominated by theoretical cherry flavored green tea. A real delicious thinker this one. Highly recommended.
Hatou’s notes:
“Karumandi Washing Station has been operating since 1961 and processes coffee grown in the fertile volcanic soils surrounding Mount Kenya.
It is one of 12 washing stations managed by the Baragwi Farmers’ Cooperative Society, which was established in 1953.
Only fully ripe cherries are accepted for processing. After delivery, the cherries undergo additional hand sorting and flotation to remove damaged or low-density cherries. The coffee is then processed using the traditional washed process, including depulping, fermentation, and washing.
Through meticulous quality control, Karumandi has consistently produced some of Kenya’s highest-quality coffee lots.”
Roast:
Roasted light and spectacularly by our friends at Hatou Coffee and Roasters in Jeju, South Korea, rested for 7 days, then vacuum packed and frozen. I recommend enjoying this coffee right away.
