El Placer White Honey Geisha
Josh’s Notes:
Very special lot of coffee. Sebastián Ramírez is a legend who almost never misses. This “white honey” processed Geisha from El Placer goes beyond mere flavor notes for me, it reminds me of a better time! A time when social media was still fun and wasn’t trying to slowly kill us.
On bag open, my first thoughts were that this coffee smelt like sakura blossoms, or the many special sakura themed snacks that pop-up everywhere during springtime in Japan. In reality, I don’t think it actually smells that way; at least not objectively. However, the notes that do come up somehow remind me of that time and place. The sharp scent of yuzu, vending machine jasmine teas, and frosty seasonal peach sodas. The scent of bergamot floats through this brew as well, adding a fresh citrus, soaking in the sento vibe.
I’ve tried this same coffee from many other roasters before (all are very good), but Glitch seems to have really hit it out of the park with their roast profile.
Cheaper than a flight to Japan, and more real than a time machine.
Glitch’s Notes:
From El Placer, the innovative coffee farm capturing the attention of baristas around the world, comes a special lot of Geisha.
El Placer, meaning “pleasure” or “delight,” is committed to crafting innovative coffees that leave a lasting impression on those who taste them. The farm is currently led by fourth-generation producer Sebastián Ramírez, whose deep knowledge and passion continue to influence the global coffee industry.
This lot features [Geisha], processed through a unique fermentation method that draws out its floral and juicy aromatics.
Don't miss the chance to experience this exceptional coffee.
Roasted light and spectacularly by our friends at Glitch Coffee and Roasters in Tokyo, Japan, rested for 7 days, then vacuum packed and frozen. I recommend enjoying this coffee right away.
