Don Eli Natural Milenio

$22.00

Josh’s notes:
A new varietal I’ve never tried- Milenio! Like all Lilo coffees, this one is well balanced and a great drinker. Also goes excellently with milk. This coffee is floral and very soft feeling, and suspiciously clean for a natural. Lovely bright cranberry notes and apricot fruitiness are also present, and a mild simple syrup sweetness to round it out even further. Excited for more Milenio!

Lilo’s Notes:
“Don Eli is a true pioneer of Costa Rica’s micromill movement, admired by roasters around the world for producing coffee with both quality and story.

Carlos Montero, born into a long line of coffee farmers, founded his own micromill in 2014. Driven by his belief in the importance of processing in shaping flavor, he committed himself to overseeing every step—from harvest to drying.

Carlos holds a clear vision: producers should connect directly with consumers, and craft flavors that bring joy to those who drink their coffee.
Today, his son Jacob oversees the wet mill, and together they continue to refine their craft while inspiring other producers throughout the region.

This lot features high-quality Milenio cherries grown in the nearby Canet area.
Milenio is a first-generation (F1) hybrid between T5296—a rust-resistant cultivar—and Sudan Rume, a traditional Ethiopian landrace.

Developed by international institutions such as CIRAD and CATIE, this variety offers both resilience in the field and exceptional cup quality.
Though still relatively rare in the market, Milenio has already drawn attention—taking 3rd place in the Cup of Excellence and sparking excitement among coffee professionals.

A variety that is both disease-resistant and delicious benefits not only consumers but also producers.

At LiLo Coffee, we actively support forward-thinking initiatives like this, and are proud to showcase Milenio as part of our lineup.

To fully express the strength and layered sweetness of Milenio, this lot was processed using a carefully controlled natural method.

After harvest, the cherries undergo several days of fermentation in plastic bags, followed by slow drying on raised beds for about a month.
Throughout the drying period, the coffee is regularly turned, hand-sorted, and shaded when necessary to ensure even drying and preserve flavor clarity.”

Roast:
